The Dolphins:
We have long known that dolphins are friendly creatures. Dolphins are often regarded as one of Earth's most intelligent animals and have long played a role in human culture. Their often friendly appearance and seemingly playful attitude have made them popular. Dolphins are social creatures, they will stay with injured or ill individuals, even helping them to breathe by bringing them to the surface if needed. They have also been seen protecting swimmers from sharks by swimming circles around the swimmers or charging the sharks to make them go away.
Dolphins also display culture, something long believed to be unique to humans. Play is an important part of dolphin culture, they occasionally leap above the water surface, sometimes performing acrobatic and occasionally, they playfully interact with swimmers. Spotting dolphins riding in a ship’s wake was considered a good omen.
